The first thing I want to mention about the three weeks spent in UC Berkeley is that this is the most valuable experience for me in 2015. Those three weeks broads my horizon and enhance my ability not only in study but also in life. Besides, the life in Berkeley taught me how to communicate with strangers more freely and brought me friends from all over the world.
First and foremost, the course I’ve taken should be the best choice I have ever made. Peace and Conflict Study is a social science course, which seems to be a little bit strange for a student majored in science. However, this course covers huge amount of knowledge which also definitely improve my skills in my study for science. It’s universally considered that peace and conflict study is mainly on worldwide problems, especially on international peace issue.Therefore, the purpose for me to take participation in this course at the beginning is to learn more international affairs, but eventually the biggest improvement for me is the ability in cooperation and mediation.
In addition to what’s mentioned above, the teaching method the Professor used during the course really attract students’ attention. Moreover, when I am prepare for the final presentation and final paper for this course, I believe that I have learned more than the course itself gave me. It’s rare to get the opportunity to study together with foreign students, who are from at least five different countries.
Additionally, students from ShanghaiTech to UC Berkeley this summer got the chance to stay in Lawrence Berkeley National Lab Guest House, and be able to get close to those famous laboratories on the mountain. Besides, during the three weeks, we also travel to San Fransisco on weekends and experience local culture in depth. For me, I also visited Oakland, Milpitas, Fremont, San jose and so on. The day before we went back to China, we also went to Stanford and NASA, paid a visit to Silicon Valley. The life experience in Berkeley this summer will be my treasure forever.
To sum up To sum up, I have to say that it’s worthwhile to have a experience in Universities abroad, and UC Berkeley is a place where I want to study further in the future.
